The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has officially endorsed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the Saturday December 7 election.

According to the party, the decision to endorse and support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) follows the disqualification of the party’s presidential candidate, Philip Appiah Kubi, by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Speaking at a press conference earlier today, the party’s deputy General Secretary, Jerry Addo, explained that, the party’s decision to support the NDC comes after a broader consultation with members and leadership of the party.

He also mentioned that, the party also looked at the policies of each political party before arriving at the conclusion to support the NDC based on their manifesto which resonates with that of their founder, the Late Maame Akua Donkor.

“We critically examined the manifestos and policies of the various political parties and even the independent candidates. That is why we have to arrive at this decision very late. Because we just have from today, Wednesday December 4, 2024 up to Saturday. It was not easy, we did extensive consultation. And you see, our mother the late Maame Akua Donkor, had women at heart’’.

He added that, the founder of the party prior to her death championed the activities that empower women and had education as part of her priority.

“And NDC has a campaign policy of establishing the Women’s Development Bank, it was one thing that was vital to our mother. It was crucial to her, why won’t we go that line? Our mother didn’t have formal education and the NDC is promising free tertiary education for first-year students and also the physically challenged. It’s a policy our mother wanted. The policies and vision of the NDC are in line with the Ghana Freedom Party.”

“The Ghana Freedom Party is supporting the candidature of the flagbearer of H.E John Dramani Mahama on Saturday December 7, 2024. He’s going to capture power to save Ghanaians. And I want to state here and it’s a fact, nobody has coerced us, nobody has influenced us into arriving at this decision’’ he added.
