The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission(EC), Jean Mensa, has assured the public that the Commission is not expecting any shortages of election materials or equipment in any part of the country during the December 7 elections.

Speaking at what the Commission described as its final media engagement before election day on Saturday, December 7, 2024, Mrs. Mensa confirmed that all necessary materials and equipment had been distributed to the regions in sufficient quantities, ensuring smooth operations across the country.

She announced that 18,774,159 registered voters, representing 55% of the total population, are expected to participate in the elections.

Providing an update on the special voting exercise, she noted that it was highly successful, with voter turnout exceeding expectations, and the lowest turnout recorded at 83%.

She revealed that the Commission had issued accreditation to nearly 10,000 journalists, granting them access to polling stations, constituency collation centers, and regional collation centers.

She also highlighted that over 20,000 local and international observers have been accredited to monitor the elections. The observers were provided with maps to facilitate easy navigation to polling centers.

Mrs. Mensa urged journalists to use their platforms, cameras, and pens responsibly to deliver accurate and factual information to the public.
