The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the deployment of its personnel to specific locations to assist the Ghana Police Service in ensuring a peaceful presidential and parliamentary election tomorrow.

According to a statement from the Director General of Public Relations, Brigadier General E. Aggrey-Quashie, the public has been assured that the presence of military personnel in their communities should not cause alarm. GAF emphasized that its personnel will not be stationed at polling stations but will serve as standby support, with the Ghana Police Service retaining primary responsibility for election security.

GAF reiterated that the military will only intervene upon the request of the police as part of a collaborative effort to maintain peace, law, and order during the electoral process. GAF encouraged citizens to exercise their civic responsibilities peacefully, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid actions that could disrupt the elections.

“GAF wishes to once again encourage all Ghanaians to exercise their civic rights responsibly, cooperate with
security personnel and refrain from any acts that could disrupt the peace. GAF reiterates its commitment to
safeguarding the stability and sovereignty of the nation whilst protecting the integrity of the election process,” part of the statement read.
