Election 2024: Hundreds stranded at NPP headquarters over transportation woes

With just a few hours to Ghana’s general elections, over 500 supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have been left stranded at the party’s headquarters due to insufficient vehicles to transport them to their respective regions.

As part of efforts to mobilize voters, the NPP organized transportation to convey its members to various constituencies. However, logistical challenges have left many supporters frustrated, some of whom have been at the headquarters since 6:00 a.m.

In an interview with some of the stranded individuals, they expressed disappointment, noting that they had only been provided with yogurt and pie throughout the day. Many lamented the lack of proper planning, with some worried they may not be able to travel back to their constituencies in time to vote.

“We were promised that buses would be available early in the morning, but it’s almost evening, and nothing has been done. People are tired and hungry,” one supporter stated.

The situation has raised concerns about the party’s ability to ensure the participation of its members in tomorrow’s critical elections. Despite assurances from party officials that additional vehicles are being arranged, many remain skeptical about reaching their destinations in time.

The stranded supporters are calling on party leadership to act swiftly to resolve the issue and ensure no voter is disenfranchised due to logistical shortcomings.
