The United States has extended its congratulations to the people of Ghana and President Elect John Mahama on the successful conduct of the recent general elections, describing the outcome as a true reflection of the will of the Ghanaian people.

In a statement, the U.S. applauded the peaceful nature of the electoral process and emphasized its commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with Ghana under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, the projected winner of the presidential race.

“Congratulations to all Ghanaians on a successful election that reflects the will of the Ghanaian people. The United States looks forward to continuing our strong partnership under John Dramani Mahama,” the statement read.

The U.S. also commended all candidates who participated in the election for their dedication to democracy and their commitment to a peaceful transfer of power. Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s concession speech was specifically highlighted for its eloquence and its reinforcement of democratic principles.

“We commend all of the candidates that stood for election this cycle and their commitment to peaceful elections and the transfer of power, as so eloquently expressed in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s concession speech,” the statement added.

The U.S. reaffirmed its support for Ghana’s democratic journey and praised the Ghanaian people for their belief in the power of democracy.

“We stand with the people of Ghana and their belief in the power of the people and that #DemocracyDelivers,” the statement concluded.

This message of support from the U.S. underscores Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa, following another peaceful and transparent electoral process.
