Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency and former Mayor of the Accra, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, has emphasized the need for Ghanaians to adopt a more serious approach towards elections to ensure better management.

His remarks come in response to the recent unrest following the conclusion of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Speaking to Bismark Brown on Happy 98.9FM’s Epahoa Daben he said, “Especially physical collation and carrying of ballot boxes to collation centers to get them counted. When you do this and it delays it agitates the people and brings chaos so we should eliminate it”.

He mentioned that if really Ghanaians claim to be serious about their elections, then the seriousness needs to show and be evident.

“How can we go into a national election without a vehicle for the transportation of our ballot boxes? We need to stop that. We should never go into any more elections with that, no matter how much it will cost we need to give each constituency a vehicle or even a bus to go round to pick all ballot boxes after election. It should be sent electronically” he said.

The MP for Ablekuma South Constituency highlighted that Ghanaians need to be honest and sincere when it comes to their elections.

“This act will show who our next president will be so we need to change our attitude towards election management and implementation. We can do better, we create unnecessary conditions and tensions when we do this” he noted.
