The National Womens’ Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Hannah Louisa Bissiw, has strongly condemned what she described as illegal practices of re-collation and re-declaration of election results.

Addressing the press on Friday, December 13, Dr. Bissiw expressed concern about the declaration of election results of some constituencies at the Police Training School.

She recalled the 2008 elections, where discrepancies in the number of ballots cast were noted, particularly in constituencies where voter populations were far exceeded by the number of ballots counted. She accused the Electoral Commission of attempting to repeat such errors, warning that the NDC would not tolerate any efforts to alter the outcome of the people’s verdict.

Dr. Bissiw also took issue with the involvement of security forces, questioning the legitimacy of the processes being carried out at the Police Training School. She stated that any re-declaration of results from constituencies already declared at polling stations would be illegal. She emphasized that results should be declared at the constituency and coalition centers, not manipulated at external locations.

The NDC Women’s Organizer further asserted that the people of Ghana, particularly women, had made their voices heard by voting in large numbers, including pregnant women and elderly citizens. She underscored the importance of protecting the democratic process and ensuring the integrity of elections.

She stressed that the NDC would not accept any attempt to change the declared results through fraudulent means, calling for an end to what she deemed illegality in the election process. She appealed to authorities to respect the will of the people and halt any actions that would undermine the integrity of the elections.
