The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has announced its intention to strike again if government do not fully pay their NLC’s outstanding Compulsory Arbitration Awards.

According to them, if the monies do not reflect in their accounts by December 20, 2024 they would go on strike.

“We are by this release, reminding the employer that if by December 20, 2024 we do not see the NLC’s Compulsory Arbitration Awards being fully implemented and the associated monies reflecting in our members’ accounts, we shall advise ourselves and no amount of talks or interventions from any quarters shall get us to rescind our decision”.

The Association in a statement noted that, they have been deceived by government that, the National Labour Commission’s (NLC) compulsory arbitration award which was issued on May 2, 2023.

The Association mentioned that, the All- Year- Round Compensation which was supposed to be paid by August 31, 2024 has not been paid as of December 16, 2024.

The association mentioned in the statement that, out of 46 colleges only four colleges have received full payment.

“We consider this promised and failed attitude of the employer to be a deliberate attempt to eventually deny us what is due us”.

The statement added that, “ from the foregoing development, it is obvious that the employer is deliberately denying us our legitimate Compulsory Arbitration Awards for no justifiable reasons”.
