Member of the legal team for Richard Dela Sky, Professor Takyiwaa Manuh, has expressed shock and disappointment in the ruling by the Supreme Court regarding the anti-gay bill.

The Supreme Court today, Wednesday December 18, 2024 rejected the petition made by Richard Dela Sky and Dr. Amanda Odoi challenging the bill.

According to Professor Takyiwaa Manuh, the ruling was an interlocutory application and they were proceeding on procedural grounds hence, they still have options.

Speaking to reporters after the ruling she said, “I am surprised and disappointed but we have said we will wait to hear and see what is in the judgment”.

Talking about the options they have, she stated that they did not even go to court on the content of the provisions of the bill and were proceeding on article 108 which is a private member’s bill.

“Based on that, certain procedures needed to be followed so we want to see what the judgement is and what argument have been made concerning what we raised in the application” she added.

She emphasized that they will hear from the court again on Friday, but in the meantime, they will take their time study, discuss and also consult with their client.

“We will afterwards decide what our next steps will be” she disclosed.
