The Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, Myriam Montrat, has expressed great concerns over the delay of payments to international companies by the Akufo- Addo government.

According to her, these delays could cause some reputational damage to the country’s future investment on the international market.

“I do think that one of the things that will be helpful is ensuring that companies are being paid on time because that is also another factor that has been a huge deterrent, having to fight to get the money that has been owed”.

Speaking during a meeting with the President-Elect ,John Dramani Mahama in Accra on Friday, High Commissioner Madam Montrat reiterated the growing challenge of outstanding payments owed to foreign firms operating in Ghana by the current government.

She has however advised Mr Mahama to prioritize resolving these issues.

Madam Montrat mentioned that, if these issues are safeguarded, it will improve Ghana’s status as an attractive destination for foreign enterprises and maintain healthy diplomatic and economic relations.
