National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North constituency, Ewurabena Aubynn has expressed her disappointment in the judiciary’s involvement in the electoral process.

According to her, it is unacceptable and unfair that the judiciary would directly involve itself in the electoral process.

“ The judiciary shouldn’t get involved in such anomaly, because they should act as independent bodies”.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, she reiterated her displeasure in the current happenings in the electoral body pertaining the parliamentary results re-collation processes, and the judiciary’s bias treatment.

“ The people must have confidence in them (judiciary). We should be able to run to them when we feel compelled to and we expect them to give verdicts that are fair and acceptable”.

She mentioned that, she was in court to put an injunction on the re-collated results announced by the EC only to be thrown out.

“I was in court when our lawyer was trying to put an injunction on the whole process so that the right things are done. The evidence tendered at the law court wasn’t even looked at but the judge went ahead and threw all of us out of the court”.

She added that, “ when these things keep happening because a group of people are in power, and are in charge of affairs then we ask ourselves, when power changes hands and another camp decides to revert, where would it take our nation?”.

She called on all stakeholders to respect the electoral laws and its processes for peace to reign in the country.

“Let us respect our own electoral laws, let us respect the will of the people. Let us respect laid down procedures and acceptable practices so that we can have peace of mind”.
