The Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission, Ofosu Asamoah has revealed that, the commission has not received any official notice from the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana on their request to embark on an indefinite strike over their awards compensation.

According to Ofosu Asamoah, the commission would take a look at it and begin processes to ensure there is compliance .

“I have not received a formal letter from them but I have heard it in the news that they will be declaring a strike because the award that was given them has not been paid”.

“When there is no compliance of our orders we take enforcement from the court”.

He however assured CETAG of working on them receiving the compensation due them.

“We are going to work on it and see what intervention we can make before the time”.

He added that, “when we resume in January we will take the necessary action and would ensure that there is compliance”.

The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana in a statement announced that, it will embark on an indefinite strike following governments continued failure of fulfilling its agreement.

According to CETAG, government has not paid their awards compensation due them, hence their decision to embark on the strike.
