The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has postponed the investiture ceremony for its incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor.

Originally planned for Friday, December 27, 2024, the event has been rescheduled, with a new date yet to be announced, as confirmed by an official statement from the university’s registrar.

“The general public is hereby informed that the investiture ceremony of Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, previously scheduled for Friday, 27th December 2024, has been postponed”.

“A new date for the investiture ceremony will be communicated in due course. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding”
parts of the statement read.

Although the official statement did not disclose the reasons for the postponement, recent developments indicate potential legal challenges.

Reports suggest that Rashid Ibrahim, an alumnus of UPSA, filed a court injunction aiming to halt the investiture, citing allegations related to Professor Mawutor’s academic promotion.
