The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially announced the release of provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior High School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates in Ghana.

This follows delays caused by financial and logistical challenges, including the breakdown of critical scanning equipment and an outstanding government debt. These issues affected over 460,000 candidates, creating anxiety among students and their families.

The Ministry of Education intervened by providing a total of GHS60 million to support marking activities and facilitate the release of the results.

With the funds, WAEC repaired the faulty scanners and other equipment, enabling the council to complete results processing.

WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi confirmed that technicians worked swiftly to resolve the issues, allowing the results to be published by the projected timeline.

In a statement released on Monday December 30, WAEC indicated candidates and schools can now access the results online via WAEC’s official website, www.waecgh.org, using their login credentials.

WAEC has also warned against fraudulent individuals offering to alter results for a fee and encouraged stakeholders to use its results verification system, including the QR code feature, to ensure authenticity.
