President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has firmly stated that Ghana is not financially broke as he delivered his final State of the Nation Address (SONA).

The President stressed that his administration is leaving behind a strong financial standing, supported by gross international reserves amounting to nearly $8 billion.

According to the President, this figure surpasses the $6.2 billion in reserves his government inherited in 2017, emphasizing the stability of the country’s financial position. He rejected claims suggesting Ghana was struggling financially, describing them as propaganda aimed at distorting the facts.

“The country is not broke as some propagandists want us to believe. We’re handing over the country with gross international reserves of almost $8 billion. This, is more than the $6.2 billion of gross international reserves, my administration inherited in 2017,” he said.

The President’s statement sought to assure the nation that despite economic challenges, the country’s reserves remain solid, reflecting the resilience of the economy under his leadership. He stressed that while individual financial situations might differ, the national reserves are in a healthy state as his administration prepares to hand over power.
