The Acting Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, has emphasized the significance of the newly commissioned parliamentary museum in preserving Ghana’s rich democratic history and legislative evolution.

Delivering the welcome address at a ceremony to commission the project on Monday, January 6, 2025, he highlighted the importance of the museum in showcasing the nation’s parliamentary journey from the pre-colonial era through the colonial period and into the current republican system. The museum will advocate for and preserve Ghana’s constitutional liberties while telling the rich story of the country’s legislative progress.

The establishment of this museum, he said supported by the Speaker of Parliament, the Parliamentary Service Board, and parliamentary leadership, reflects a collective commitment to safeguarding the nation’s democratic values. The facility is designed to serve as a constant reminder to political stakeholders of the importance of protecting national resources and ensuring the welfare of all citizens.

This visionary project, according to him, is expected to inspire patriotism, provide historical enlightenment, and offer significant insights into Ghana’s democratic milestones. The exhibitions will serve as a platform for visitors to explore the sacrifices made by past leaders and gain a deeper understanding of the country’s parliamentary processes.

The museum is anticipated to provide a unique educational experience, encouraging visitors to reflect on Ghana’s governance structures while envisioning the future of the democratic process. It stands as a remarkable historical asset, fostering national pride and promoting responsible citizenship.
