CLOGSAG threatens to strike over forced eviction by armed thugs

Leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has threatened to embark on industrial action if nothing is done about the forceful eviction of its members by some armed thugs.

According to the leadership of CLOGSAG, the attacks by the armed thugs have left numerous of its members displaced and caused significant property damage within the affected residences.

Speaking during a press conference earlier today, Wednesday January 8, 2025, the association’s Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo called on the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to immediately begin investigation to bring those perpetrators to book.

“We are calling on those who are involved to stop. We are appealing to the IGP to call them to order”.

Mr. Bampoe Addo mentioned that, if government does not intervene, the association would embark on strike as they would not sit unconcerned for their members to face threats.

“Our things have been thrown out and properties left at the mercies of others
These are civil servants who have been allocated these residences”.

He added that, “It is the responsibility of the police to protect them. This has been going on since Friday night. By this time, they should have taken over the areas giving them police protection but so far nothing has been done. That is why we are calling on the IGP as a matter of urgency, to give them protection or else we will advise ourselves. We will lay down our tools, we cannot work in such an environment”.
