Vetting chaos: Investigation committee expected to submit report to speaker today

Speaker of the 9th Parliament, Rt. Hon. Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin in accordance with Article 78 (1) has presented the first ministerial nominee list as selected by President John Dramani Mahama before parliament for review and approval.

The list of nominees for these ministerial roles was released in a formal statement by the office of the President on Thursday, January 9, 2024.

The RT. Hon. Speaker who presided over proceedings of the House referred to the appointments committee on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama for consideration of Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson as Minister Designate for Finance, John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister Designate for Energy and Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as Attorney General and Minister Designate for Justice.

Speaking on the competence of the nominees, he said, “The nominees credentials and records of service demonstrate their competences to support the government’s agenda and serve the people of Ghana effectively.”

RT. Hon. Speaker Bagbin also hinted that each ministerial nominee’s curriculum vitae along with other supporting documents are available for perusal by parliament and urged parliament to expedite vetting and approval procedures of the ministerial nominees in accordance with constitutional requirements.
