Electrochem Ghana Limited has strongly condemned an attack by some thugs alleged to be affiliated with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) members.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Abdul Razak Adam, Electrochem was violently invaded and ransacked by armed assailants wielding cutlasses and firearms on Thursday January 9, 2025.

The statement indicated that, the armed group mentioned that they were sent from the National Headquarters of the NDC.

“The perpetrators, who explicitly stated that they were sent from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) headquarters, were led by a known NDC activist”.

The statement added “this brazen attack is not an isolated incident but part of a disturbing trend that poses a grave threat to the safety and security of our employees and the integrity of our operations”.

“The assailants wreaked havoc on our premises, stealing essential office supplies and a significant quantity of our salt product from the warehouse.
This criminal act has resulted in considerable financial losses and a profound disruption to our daily operations.”

Mr. Adam noted that, the act led to injury of some staff, adding that, the company needs urgent security measures to protect its staff.

“Some of our staff members sustained injuries during the chaos, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures and accountability”.

Mr. Adam has called on the police to as a matter of urgency investigate this as it threatens and undermines operational stability as well as endanger the lives of its staff.

“These recurring security breaches not only endanger our personnel but also jeopardize our operational stability and our ability to provide sustainable employment opportunities for Ghanaian citizens. Such lawlessness undermines the investment climate in our region and threatens the trust we have cultivated with both local and international investors who have committed substantial resources to our endeavors”.

“Electrochem Ghana Limited is a proud Ghanaian enterprise, employing approximately 1800 permanent workers and over 3,000 casual workers during the salt mining season”.
