The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dominic Ayine, has tasked the constitutional review committee to review and submit recommendations over the next six months.

According to him, the committee’s core duty is to scrutinize the constitution, including statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, and public policies designed to uphold its provisions.

“We have not had the strong will to do what it takes to make the constitution work to enhance the public welfare,” Ayine stated.

He emphasized that the committee members have been carefully selected for their expertise and dedication.

” the easiest part of the job is to follow the specified methods of altering the constitution. The toughest is to recommend substantive provisions to add to or replace the current provisions that would conform with the welfare principle of Article 1, Clause 1 of the constitution,” he added.

The committee’s recommendations are expected to address gaps and propose changes that align with the constitution’s aim to enhance public welfare.
