Minister for Sports and Recreation Designate, Kofi Adams, has pledged to prioritize the growth of lesser-known sports in Ghana.

During his vetting, Adams highlighted the President’s vision to separate the youth and sports portfolios, aiming for a more focused and efficient administration of both sectors.

“The President, in his manifesto, saw the need to decouple youth from sports. We will also focus more on other sports known as the lesser-known sports,” he stated.

This policy shift is expected to channel greater attention and resources toward disciplines that have traditionally received less support than football. The initiative could significantly boost the development of athletics, boxing, table tennis, hockey, swimming, Scrabble, and other sports, creating more opportunities for Ghanaian athletes to shine on the continental and global stage.
