The Nsuasehene of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Bafour Dei Kusi Agyei II, has expressed concern over the growing disinterest in agriculture among the youth, attributing the high rate of unemployment to the overwhelming preference for white-collar jobs.

He urged parents to instill in their children a keen interest in agricultural studies and encourage them to consider farming as a viable career path. He emphasized that during career day events in schools, students predominantly dress in outfits representing professions such as nursing and other office-based careers, with none opting to portray farming as an aspiration.

Bafour Dei Kusi Agyei II stressed the need for a shift in mindset, highlighting the vast opportunities within the agricultural sector. He pointed out that while many young people complete their education with hopes of securing formal employment, the limited availability of such jobs has left many unemployed.

He called on parents to guide their children toward farming, noting that with modern technology and improved farming techniques, agriculture presents a lucrative avenue for financial stability and economic growth. He emphasized that education and farming can go hand in hand, urging the youth to explore the potential of agribusiness as a sustainable career option.
