Former Labour Minister Ignatius Baffour Awuah has been granted bail in the amount of GHC 500,000 with two sureties. Alongside him, Joseph Kyeremeh, another suspect in the case, has also been granted bail. Both are required to appear before the Sunyani District Magistrate Court B on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Baffour Awuah, who previously served as the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, faces charges of “abetment to commit crime, to wit murder,” under sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act of 1960 (Act 29).

Meanwhile, Agyemang Duah Owusu, the third suspect arrested on Monday, has been remanded in police custody.

The arrests of Baffour Awuah, a former Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, along with Owusu and Kyeremeh, are linked to the violent disturbances that occurred during a league match between Nsoatreman F.C. and Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre, Bono Region.

Presiding Judge Eric Daning has ordered Baffour Awuah to surrender his passport to the court registry for the first 14 days, starting today, February 4. Additionally, the former minister is prohibited from traveling outside the Sunyani Municipality without prior approval from the court.
