Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has lifted the suspension on four Members of Parliament (MPs) who were asked to stay home following an altercation during a vetting session on January 30, 2025.

The incident, which involved both Minority and Majority MPs, escalated into a heated confrontation, resulting in the suspension of four MPs; Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Alhassan Tampuli, and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.

The decision to suspend the MPs sparked a debate over the continuation of the vetting process, leading the Minority MPs to stage a walkout in protest.

Following a review of the incident, Speaker Bagbin announced the lifting of the suspension, allowing the MPs to resume their parliamentary duties.

The decision seeks to ease tensions and restore a sense of normalcy to parliamentary proceedings.

“The decision to lift the suspension was made after a thorough review of the events that transpired. It is essential for the functioning of our Parliament that we maintain order and decorum,” Speaker Bagbin stated.
