Financial problems have been identified as the leading cause of conflicts in marriage.

Speaking on the topic “Finances in Marriage,” at the 2025 Mass wedding counseling session, Rev. Annan explained the importance of financial management in a healthy marriage. He noted that financial problems can put a significant strain on relationships leading to conflicts

Rev. Annan cited the biblical story of Jesus receiving gold as an infant, highlighting the significance of money in our lives. However, he cautioned that, while money is important, it should not be the primary focus of a marriage.

“There are two main causes of conflicts in a marriage: sex and lack of money,” Rev. Annan stated. “God blesses individuals with money, and they are supposed to invest and use it wisely to multiply.”

Rev. Annan advised couples to be financially wise, noting that while money is good, it should not be loved above all else. He warned that the love of money can be the root of all evil, leading to greed, corruption, and conflict.

Rev. Annan’s emphasis on the importance of financial management in marriage highlights the need for couples to prioritize financial planning and responsibility. By working together to manage their finances effectively, couples can reduce the risk of conflict and build a stronger, more resilient marriage.
