GFA bans Nsoatreman FC

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially approved the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025, a comprehensive framework aimed at improving stadium safety and protecting all stakeholders in Ghana football.

This initiative follows the tragic death of Kotoko fan Nana Pooley, who was fatally stabbed during a league match against Nsoatreman earlier this month. In response, the GFA has introduced strict new security measures after consultations with clubs, security agencies, and government officials to prevent future incidents.

Under the new guidelines:
1.Each club must appoint a Club Safety and Security Officer (CSSO).
2.The Ghana Police Service will establish a dedicated Sports Police Unit to oversee football-related security matters.
3.New stadium zoning rules will regulate access to restricted areas.
4.Matchday security coordinators will enforce order inside and outside venues.

To ensure compliance, clubs who fail to adhere to the new protocols will face strict penalties, including fines ranging from GH₵20,000 to GH₵100,000 and venue bans for repeat offenders.

The GFA reiterated its commitment to making football a safe and enjoyable experience, stressing that hooliganism has no place in the game.
