The government has announced that recommendations from the upcoming National Economic Dialogue (NED) will play a crucial role in shaping the 2025 Budget Statement.

The dialogue, themed “RESETTING GHANA: BUILDING THE ECONOMY WE WANT TOGETHER,” is scheduled for Monday, March 3, and Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.

An official publication released by the presidency on Monday, February 24 said the event will bring together key stakeholders, including academia, civil society organizations, labor unions, students, the business community, and ordinary Ghanaians, to deliberate on pressing economic challenges. Discussions will focus on restoring macroeconomic stability, improving governance, bridging infrastructure gaps, and unlocking Ghana’s agricultural and industrial potential to drive job creation and economic transformation.

A seven-member committee overseeing the dialogue stated that Day Two will feature sectoral presentations by key ministries, including Finance, Energy and Green Transition, Food and Agriculture, Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, and Communications. These presentations will help shape the final recommendations.

According to the publication, President John Dramani Mahama will open the dialogue, while Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will officially close it

Highlighting the importance of the event, the presidency stated in the official release “The National Economic Dialogue forms part of President Mahama’s 120-day social contract with Ghanaians and is a response to the dire state of Ghana’s economy.”

The recommendations from the event will be submitted to the government seven days before the presentation of the 2025 Budget Statement by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson to Parliament on Tuesday, March 11,
