The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reminded Ghanaian traders and businesses of Burkina Faso’s ongoing ban on the export of cereals and white beans, emphasizing the need for full compliance to avoid sanctions.

A statement issued by the Ministry referenced official communications from Burkina Faso joint communiqués No. 023-0017 dated December 19, 2023, and No. 024-0017 dated November 13, 2024 which reaffirmed the export ban on key staples such as rice, millet, maize, sorghum, and cowpeas.

The Ministry has advised Ghanaian traders and businesses involved in importing these commodities to adhere to the directive to prevent sanctions or confiscation of goods.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs acknowledges the challenges this poses to Ghanaian businesses but stresses the importance of compliance to maintain smooth bilateral trade relations.
