Black Stars budget will be made public – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the days of hiding Black Stars’ budget from Ghanaians are over.

According to president Mahama, Black Stars are funded with tax payer’s money and as such, the public deserves to see the budget and how much the country is spending on the team’s activities.

He told Parliament during the State of the Nation Address on Thursday, February 27, 2025, that under his presidency, Black Stars budget presented by GFA will be made public.

“Next month, the senior national team, the Black Stars, now a pale shadow of their former glory will be in action. I have instructed the Minister for Sports and Recreation to hold the GFA accountable, particularly regarding the team’s budget.”

“There will be no secrecy in how much the government spends on the national team. The budget presented by the FA and other associations must be made public, as it is taxpayers’ money,” Mahama stated.
