Police arrest one male KNUST student suspected of murdering Level 400 female student

The Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti Region have arrested a male student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) suspected of murdering a final-year female student, who was found dead in the early hours of Thursday February 27, 2025.

The arrest was made after a thorough review of CCTV footage on campus.

The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the death of Joana Daladem Yabani, a final-year Biomedical Science student.

A statement signed by Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Director, Public Affairs, indicated that the suspect known as Daniel Tuffour was arrested following further crime scene investigations.

“The Inspector-General of Police has personally engaged the family of the deceased to commiserate with them and assure them that justice will be done” parts of the statement read.
