Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, Dr. Ishmael Yamson has commended government for steps taken to address issues associated with Ghana’s economy.

Speaking after a break out session held on the second day of the economic dialogue, Dr. Yamson noted that various sectors in Ghana have been significantly impacted, largely due to widespread corruption in governmental leadership.

Focusing on leadership, he highlighted the National Economic Dialogue as a crucial initiative that has broken the cycle of politicizing national issues, which has often been used as a weapon against opposition parties. “I am pleased that we have finally reached a stage where we have succeeded in depoliticizing Ghana’s problems and, instead, prioritized the nation’s interests in resetting its destiny for the benefit of future generations.”

Referring to President Mahama’s agenda to reset Ghana, Dr. Yamson described it as a challenging mission that requires decisive action.. “The journey to reset Ghana and build the Ghana we want together is going to be an arduous one. To succeed, it will require an unwavering leadership and commitment to the agenda, a complete change in our governance mindset, a complete rejection of corruption greed and grasp, probably the most singular factor that has undermined all progress under all previous governments to build a sustainable, resilient economy.” he said.
