The highly anticipated court hearing between independent candidate Kwadjo Asante popularly known as Oboafo and Suhum Member of Parliament, Frank Asiedu Bekoe affectionately known as Protozoa, took place today, Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Koforidua High Court.

Kwadjo Asante had filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction to prevent Frank Asiedu Bekoe from being sworn in and holding himself out as the MP for Suhum.

However, when the case was called, the petitioner, Kwadjo Asante, withdrew the lawsuit after Frank Asiedu Bekoe’s lawyer pointed out that the injunction should be dismissed due to its mootness.

The lawyer argued that as of today, Frank Asiedu Bekoe had already been sworn in as the validly elected MP for Suhum, and the Electoral Commission (EC) had taken further steps to gazette the results of the 2024 parliamentary election for Suhum. As such, the lawyer stated that granting an injunction on a matter that had already taken place would be futile.

The presiding judge agreed with this argument and struck out the injunction suit.

As a result, Frank Asiedu Bekoe will continue to serve as the MP for Suhum until the substantive case is resolved.

Mr. Bekoe was present in court, accompanied by the Suhum NPP Constituency Executives, led by Chairman Frederick Ofosu. His legal team, led by Garry Nimako, represented him in court.

The next court hearing is scheduled for Monday, March 31, 2025.
