Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has announced plans to reactivate and invite all Regional Police Public Affairs Offices to re-engage with society and media partners.

Speaking at a workshop for regional and unit public affairs officers of the Ghana Police Service, IGP Yohuno outlined the need for a dynamic approach to police-public relations to meet the evolving demands of society.

“This collaboration extends beyond crime fighting, It involves the development of robust interpersonal skills, requiring constant reassessment of our Police Public Relations frameworks to adapt to changing circumstances in times when the public demands greater involvement and accountability in our service delivery.”

He stressed that a well-tested approach to public engagement ensures police legitimacy and boosts public confidence.

“This is where your significant role as public affairs officers in fostering positive interactions with the public becomes essential and directly impacts police effectiveness”.

IGP Yohuno emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police and the public, extending beyond crime-fighting efforts.
