The Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Justice Srem Sai, has defended the recent raid on the residence of former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, asserting that the operation was conducted in accordance with the law.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Thursday, March 20, Justice Srem Sai clarified that the raid was carried out with proper legal authorization.

“We take responsibility for the search that happened. We want to make it clear that those searches and the mode in which they were done were in accordance with the law. Warrants were procured and used”.

The Deputy Attorney General assured the public of the government’s commitment to recovering state assets believed to have been looted.

“We are, as much as we can, pursuing persons who are believed or suspected to have looted state assets, whether money or other properties”.

Justice Srem Sai also highlighted the importance of adhering to the rule of law in such operations.

“We are committed, and work is going on day and night for that to be done. Most importantly, we are also doing so within the framework of the rule of law”.
