Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has called for the establishment of a dedicated 24-hour policing unit within the Ghana Police Service.

Speaking at a meeting with the police leadership, the Minister emphasized the importance of robust security measures in protecting the operations, employees, and assets of businesses adopting the 24-hour model.

He cautioned that without adequate security infrastructure, the success of this transformative policy could be at risk.

“The aim of this Secretariat is to implement a robust and sustainable policing model that ensures security is guaranteed in both urban and rural areas. Activities do not cease, and neither can our vigilance”.

The Minister highlighted that a dynamic and responsive policing system is essential to meet the unique challenges posed by this policy.

“We are laying the groundwork for a system that is dynamic and responsive to the unique challenges posed by the 24-hour economy. As we embrace this new approach, the safety of businesses, citizens, and workers will be prioritised to ensure that every hour of the day is protected”.
