Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, delivered a masterclass in attacking football on Friday, dismantling Chad 5-0 in a 2026 World Cup qualifier.

The victory propelled Ghana to the top of Group I, setting the stage for a pivotal showdown with Madagascar on Monday.

From kickoff, Ghana’s high-pressing strategy left Chad reeling. The breakthrough arrived early when Antoine Semenyo capitalized on a goalmouth scramble, slotting home after a series of ricochets in the box.

Jordan Ayew, though, squandered a gilt-edged chance moments later, ballooning a shot over the bar from point-blank range.

The Black Stars’ relentless pressure soon paid dividends. Inaki Williams rose to meet a pinpoint cross from Kinglsey Schindler with a thumping header, fulfilling his pre-match pledge to score.

Five minutes later, Jordan Ayew atoned for his earlier miss by converting a penalty after Semenyo was fouled in the box. By halftime, Ghana led 3-0, with Chad failing to muster a single shot on target.

The second half mirrored the first in intensity. Mohammed Salisu doubled his season’s tally with a powerful header from Ernest Nuamah’s corner, while Nuamah himself sealed the rout with a composed finish after a slick backheel assist from Ayew.

Coach Otto Addo rotated his squad late in the game, introducing debutant Lawrence Agyekum and substitutes Kamaldeen Sulemana, Francis Abu, Jerome Opoku, and Jerry Afriyie. Though Mohammed Kudus and Afriyie spurned late chances, the damage was already done.
