Data Bank CEO Kojo Addae Mensah has praised Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for his decision to hand Benjamin Asare his debut in Ghana’s emphatic 5-0 win over Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper made his first-ever appearance for the senior national team on Friday evening, keeping a clean sheet as Ghana dominated Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Speaking on Happy Sports, Kojo Addae Mensah described Addo’s decision to start Asare as the right call, urging the coach to show the same confidence in him for the next match.

“The best decision Otto Addo made was starting Benjamin Asare against Chad, and he should be bold enough to start him again against Madagascar,” he stated.

The 32-year-old goalkeeper, who earned his first Black Stars call-up this month, was picked ahead of Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Jojo Wollacott and played the full 90 minutes. His selection came on the back of his impressive performances in the Ghana Premier League since joining Hearts of Oak from Great Olympics in 2024.

With Ghana now leading Group I, Otto Addo’s men will look to build on their winning momentum as they face Madagascar on today, March 24 in a crucial match-day six fixture.
