The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo, has announced the restoration of damaged streetlights of approximately 126 streets across various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies in the region.

This initiative follows her earlier pledge to ensure at least 70 percent of the region’s streetlights are operational within 50 days of assuming office. She emphasized that this effort aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing visibility and security across the capital.

Speaking to journalists during an assessment tour, Ocloo reaffirmed her commitment to swiftly restoring the remaining non-functional streetlights.

Among the areas that have benefited from the project are the George Walker Bush Highway, ACP to Pokuase, Independence Avenue (Jubilee House), and the New Town Junction to Ashaiman road.

“When I assumed office as the Regional Minister, I promised that within the first 50 days, at least 70% of damaged streetlights would be repaired. Today, we have honored that promise by fixing streetlights on about 129 streets. The only ones we haven’t fully addressed are those on the Motorway due to ongoing road construction. However, I can confidently say that my 50-day target has been met,” she said.
