Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has proposed a forensic committee to investigate the disappearance of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers from the Tema Port, amid growing concern the over missing electrical equipment meant for national power distribution.

Jinapor emphasized his ministry’s plan to track the containers using their unique identification numbers or serial numbers and pinpoint the ports where they were received.

“But beyond that we also need a small forensic committee that will trail back these containers, we need to track them using their unique identification numbers or serial numbers, which ports they were received”.

Speaking in a media interview on Tuesday April 1, 2025, Jinapor expressed gratitude for the public’s interest in the matter, stating that it demonstrates a strong demand for accountability.

“I’m very happy in the interest that Ghanaians are showing. It means they want accountability, they want the right thing done, and they want us to trace the whereabouts of these containers and hold those responsible to account. That’s exactly what we are doing”.

The minister further revealed that he has received tips regarding possible locations of the missing containers, including warehouses and factories, and vowed to take immediate action.

“This morning I’ve received a couple of calls of other areas in terms of warehouses and factories where these ECG containers can be found and so we will be moving into action”.
