A group of serial callers from the Ketu South Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have submitted a petition to the party’s constituency executives, demanding logistical support to enable them continue their work in defending the party on radio.

The petition, signed by Nicholas Atitsogbui (Chairman) and Kwashie Hamenoo, also known as Kashow (Secretary), outlines grievances of neglect over the past years. The group, numbering about forty, claims they have not received adequate support to sustain their operations.

List of demands the serial callers have requested include, Five (5) slots at the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Five (5) slots at the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Five (5) slots at National Security, Two (2) slots under the School Feeding Program and Three (3) appointments as Government Appointees. Others include, Five (5) tricycle motorbikes, Five (5) Haojue motorbikes, Farm inputs for members who are farmers and Five (5) slots at premix fuel distribution sites.

In an exclusive interview with Happyghana.com, the group’s Secretary, Kwashie Hamenoo, popularly known as Kashow, expressed frustration over the prolonged neglect of Serial Callers. He lamented that apart from receiving airtime credit and minor incentives, they have not been adequately rewarded for their efforts for the last twenty years, making it unsustainable for them to continue sacrificing for the party.

“Over twenty years now we are not getting anything much from the party, as stated in our petition. Though sometimes they buy us credit and some food but it’s not something that we can build on, as the proverbs say you teach how the person will fish than to fish for him everyday,” he said.

He further revealed that they have given the party’s executive a two-week ultimatum to address their petition. Until then, they have resolved to halt all activities related to defending or speaking on behalf of the party on any radio or TV platform.
