Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, has formally demanded an unqualified apology and GH₵10 million in compensation from the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye following what she describes as defamatory statements made during a televised interview.

The demand, outlined in a legal notice dated April 3, 2025, and issued by R.O. Solomon Consulting, accuses Abronye of making “false, reckless, and malicious” remarks during an appearance on Net 2 TV on March 26, 2025.

According to the notice, Abronye alleged that Mrs. Mogtari was discouraged from seeking a ministerial appointment and instead chose a “stress-free presidential staffer role” with a monthly salary of GH₵95,000.

He further claimed that this position had caused her to become “disrespectful to Ghanaians.”

According to the letter, the statements have since gained wide traction online, including on platforms like GhanaWeb, exposing Mrs. Mogtari to “serious embarrassment,” public ridicule, and damage to her reputation.

Her legal team contends that the remarks have triggered a flood of disparaging public commentary, along with ongoing inquiries from both personal and professional contacts.

They argue that Abronye’s claims were not only factually inaccurate but entirely baseless particularly since information regarding Mrs. Mogtari’s appointment is publicly accessible and could have been easily verified.

Consequently, the legal team is demanding the following:

1. An immediate retraction of the statements and a public apology, to be published on all platforms where the remarks were shared.

2. A compensation payment of GH₵10 million for the reputational damage and emotional distress suffered by Mrs. Mogtari.
