President John Dramani Mahama has called for greater cooperation among African nations in higher education and research, emphasizing that the continent’s most pressing challenges require collective action rather than isolated efforts.

Speaking at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Africa Education Centres of Excellence (ACE) Programme in Accra, President Mahama highlighted the critical role of academic partnerships in addressing issues such as food security, climate change, digital transformation, and public health.

“Through sustained academic engagement and coordinated investment, we can equip the next generation with the technical and entrepreneurial skills to harness these technologies, drive local innovation, and position Africans as a competitive force in the fourth industrial revolution”.

President Mahama reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to fostering regional collaborations in higher education and research, underscoring the importance of shared resources and expertise in building a resilient and forward-looking African continent.

The ACE Programme, which has been pivotal in advancing higher education and research across Africa, continues to serve as a platform for fostering innovation and addressing the continent’s developmental challenges.
