Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, the Assin South MP and Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of targeting opposition MPs.

This follows an attempted arrest by National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) officials at his Spintex residence in Accra, which he described as a “lawless act of harassment.”

The incident is reportedly linked to allegations of suspicious flights landing at Kotoka International Airport, allegedly carrying drugs and cash.

NIB operatives, however, lacked a court-issued arrest warrant, raising concern about the legality of their actions.

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia visited Rev. Fordjour to show support, while NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua urged party members to stand in solidarity.

In a post on X, he expressed his gratitude to former Vice President Dr. Bawumia for visiting him following the attempted arrest.

Minority MPs also gathered at Rev. Fordjour’s residence, emphasizing the need for adherence to parliamentary protocols and constitutional safeguards.

“Thank you very much HE Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the visit to my residence this evening following the politically motivated lawless act of harassment in the attempt of the NDC government to gag MPs from exercising their legitimate oversight”, his post read.
