The National Youth Authority has commenced stakeholder engagement under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP) with a town hall meeting in the Klottey Korle constituency.

Held on Friday, April 11, the meeting brought together artisans and key stakeholders, including seamstresses, tailors, mechanics, and other trade groups. Technical staff from NAP’s implementing agency were present to provide information and guidance on the onboarding process for both artisans and apprentices.

NYA CEO, Osman Ayariga said the engagement is the first under the NAP, a flagship initiative aimed at equipping young people with employable skills through structured apprenticeship and training.

He described the session as vital in creating awareness and gathering input ahead of the programme’s official launch on April 30, 2025.

He noted the importance of engaging relevant bodies to foster collaboration and ensure successful implementation.

He also acknowledged Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, as the first to initiate such an engagement in her constituency.

The CEO explained that NAP is targeted at unemployed youth and is expected to contribute significantly to reducing youth unemployment and promoting local craftsmanship across the country.

He encouraged all eligible young people to take advantage of the opportunity and enroll.
