The staff of the National Service Authority (NSA) have issued a strong statement condemning recent attempts by political party foot soldiers to interfere in the operations of the Authority, particularly in matters of recruitment and internal transfers.

In a release, the staff described the development as a dangerous trend that threatens the democratic principles of the country, erodes public trust, and compromises the integrity of state institutions.

“We strongly condemn the practice of political party foot soldiers attempting to hijack the National Service Authority.”

The staff emphasized that the NSA is a public institution under the jurisdiction of the Public Services Commission, and that all recruitments and transfers are conducted strictly in accordance with its approved Scheme of Service.

They cited the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), the Public Services Commission Act, 1994 (Act 482), and Article 195 of the 1992 Constitution as the legal basis for their operations.

The statement also included a passionate appeal to the youth of the Western Region to exercise restraint and allow the Authority’s management to function independently and within the law.

Additionally, the staff urged the management of the NSA to stay committed to the core principles of the institution and protect its credibility.

“We call on the government to ensure that state institutions like the National Service Authority are protected from political interference. Political parties must refrain from using the NSA to advance party interests and must respect its independence,” they stated.
