The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has, on behalf of the party’s leadership, issued an apology to members and supporters for the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking an event to begin the party’s National Thank You Tour on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the NPP headquarters, he acknowledged the deep disappointment felt by many supporters. He admitted that the loss was a significant setback and that concerns over the actions and inactions of the party’s leadership had been duly noted. He assured members that their voices have been heard in good faith and that steps would be taken to address the issues.

Mr. Frimpong noted that while the executives did their best during their time in office, internal challenges significantly contributed to the party’s loss. However, he emphasized that the party has learned valuable lessons and is committed to moving forward stronger and more united.

“To our supporters and Ghanaians who were disappointed with us as a party and as a government because of certain inaction and actions of our party and our government, we have heard you and as a party we have reflected on everything that happened in our tenure in office and we know we did our best in terms of policies but we didn’t get everything right. So to everyone who hears us, who watches us, on behalf of the National party, we want to say we are sorry for the disappointment” he said.

He assured supporters that the NPP is undergoing a thorough restructuring process that will position the party for a strong comeback in the 2028 general elections.

He expressed confidence that under the leadership of a new flagbearer, the NPP will form a better and more effective government.

“But we can assure you that we have learnt our lessons and the restructuring that’s going to happen in our party will make sure that the New Patriotic Party comes back on the right route and in 2028 when God’s grace you give us the mantle, all the wrongs that were made will be corrected for us to have a better government,” he added.
