The Government of Ghana has secured strong backing from the World Bank to implement a new Growth and Jobs Strategy aimed at addressing youth unemployment and creating sustainable job opportunities for over 500,000 young people entering the job market each year.

This significant commitment was announced in a Facebook post on the official page of the Finace Ministry following a high-level meeting at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C., between Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson (MP), and the World Bank’s Managing Director of Operations, Ms. Anna Bjerde.

The partnership will focus on job creation, skills development, and inclusive economic growth. The new strategy is designed to equip young Ghanaians with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in a competitive job market.

“This initiative reflects our shared priority of unlocking opportunities for young people, We are proud to work with Ghana on a strategy that will create jobs and build a stronger, more resilient economy,” Ms. Bjerde said.

Dr. Forson expressed gratitude for the World Bank’s support, stating, “This partnership is a major step forward in our efforts to provide decent and sustainable jobs for our youth. We must continue to pursue bold, targeted interventions to tackle the employment challenge head-on.”
