The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will today, Monday, April 28, resume his mediation efforts aimed at resolving the protracted Bawku conflict.

This development follows President John Mahama’s assurance that the peace process, led by the Asantehene, would continue as part of broader national efforts to restore stability to the troubled area.

In a statement issued on April 15, the Asantehene announced that the mediation sessions will be held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi from April 28 to May 1, bringing together the factions involved in the conflict.

Meanwhile, Security Analyst Colonel Festus Aboagye (Retired) has called for stronger support for the Asantehene’s efforts through the adoption of multi-track diplomacy.

In an opinion piece published on Monday, Colonel Aboagye stressed the need to involve a broader range of societal actors including diaspora leaders, youth influencers, and women’s peacebuilding networks to achieve a more inclusive and lasting resolution.
