The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced the deployment of 17,439 nurses and midwives across accredited health facilities nationwide for the 2025/2026 service year.

In a press release issued by the NSA headquarters in Accra, the Director-General, Felix Gyamfi, indicated that the postings mark the beginning of a one-year mandatory national service, in line with the National Service Act, 2024 (Act 1119). The initiative aims to strengthen healthcare delivery across the country by deploying skilled personnel to various regions.

The NSA has outlined a clear process for all deployed nurses and midwives to follow. These include checking postings on the NSA website (www.nsa.gov.gh), printing appointment letters, obtaining endorsements from designated health facilities, and booking online appointments for registration.

Subsequently, personnel are to report to their respective Regional Validation and Registration Centres with the necessary documents, including the endorsed appointment letter and a valid Ghana Card.

The registration and validation process officially begins on Monday, April 28, 2025, and is expected to conclude on Friday, May 9, 2025. The actual service rotation will commence on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Felix Gyamfi expressed the Authority’s appreciation for the dedication of the deployed personnel and urged them to embrace the opportunity with a sense of national duty and professionalism.

He emphasized the role of the National Service in contributing meaningfully to the country’s healthcare system.

The release also served as a reminder that, under the National Service Act, all Ghanaian citizens aged 18 and above who complete tertiary education, especially from nursing and midwifery training institutions are mandated by law to undertake national service.
