Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the successful conclusion of several strategic agreements aimed at fostering mutual development between Ghana and Algeria.

In his latest post on X, the Minister shared highlights of his official visit to Algeria, where he met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf. “It has been an exceedingly successful official visit to Algiers,” Ablakwa stated.

He emphasized the deep-rooted historical connection between the two nations as a strong foundation for renewed collaboration. “Ghana and Algeria have a shared history and historic bonds of solidarity which cannot be broken. It is always worth remembering that the first time the Algerian flag and Algerian anthem were outdoored outside Algeria in the early 1960s was in Ghana.”

The new agreements include, a visa waiver deal; expansion of scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian students in fields such as AI, robotics, and engineering; plans to begin direct flights between Accra and Algiers; launch of a strategic oil and gas partnership; enhanced cooperation on security and intelligence sharing; revival of a Joint Economic Cooperation framework.

These agreements are expected to strengthen ties and promote sustainable development across multiple sectors in both countries.
